A pleasant rural journey of about an hour a technique takes me to Chitactac-Adams Heritage County Park. This was traditionally the village of Chitactac, the dwelling web site of members of the Ohlone tribe of Native People for greater than a thousand years. It was later the location of the one room Adams schoolhouse, which was used from the 1850s to 1956.

I did see some grinding rocks. Native People used depressions in rocks as mortars to grind meals. There was an attention-grabbing signal explaining meals processing strategies:
